Mr. Joe Arriola, City Manager
City of Miami
444 SW Second Avenue
Miami, FL 33130
Dear Mr. Arriola:
As you are aware, Miami Vice is currently in preproduction, and will be starting principal
photography on June 20th.
Allow me to introduce the film and filmmakers. This film is being directed by Michael Mann
whose credits include "Collateral", "Ali", "The Insider", "Heat", "Last of the Mohicans" and the
original producer of the TV series Miami Vice. The film stars Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell and
is being distributed by Universal Studios for a 2006 release. Once again, we will showcase
Miami, the perfect tropical backdrop for this film project.
Most of this film will be shot in the City of Miami and surrounding areas. We have rented
warehouse and office space for this movie in the City of Miami. Also, most of the individualist
working on this show, will also be housed in the City of Miami at the Doubletree Grand Hotel,
Sonesta Hotel, the Mutiny Hotel and the Conrad Hilton.
Most of the filming of Miami Vice will take place during evening hours, and we would like to
request a general variance from the sound ordinance during our filming dates. At this time we
are in preproduction and do not have all of our specific locations chosen. The following is a list

commencing work. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that there is as little
inconvenience as possible to residents and or business owners.
We will have off duty police with us at all times for traffic control and as a liaison with the

If you need any additional information from us, please let me know. Again, thank you for your
