Possible Early Voting Sites -
August & November 2004 Primary
and General Elections
ENCLOSURES: (2)
Attached hereto, please find a list, along with a map, of possible Early Voting Sites for the
August 31, 2004 Primary and November 2, 2004 General elections. The list is broken down by
district and is comprised of sites recommended by the Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET),
the Parks Department, and by this office. Additionally, most of the sites are currently being used
as existing polling places.
The sites highlighted in yellow are sites previously identified by the City Clerk's Office as viable
early voting sites for last year's 2003 City of Miami municipal election. The sites highlighted in
blue are ones strategically placed and recommended by this office for easy travel throughout the
five districts. The highlighted sites represent a total of 10 locations, one of which will be the
Miami -Dade County site at the Stephen P. Clark Center, located at 111 NW 1 Street. Please also
be advised that all registered City of Miami voters will be able to early vote at any of the early
voting sites as the IVotronic machines will be programmed with the same ballot style for each
City of Miami district.
The estimated costs for having early voting sites are as follows: $195,000 for 10 sites; $136,500
for 7 sites; and $97,500 for 5 sites.
A discussion item on this issue has been scheduled for Commission consideration on the June 24,
2004 Commission meeting agenda. By separate letter, I am formally requesting that Miami -
Dade County Supervisor of Elections, Constance Kaplan, attend the June 24, 2004 Commission
Meeting to answer any questions that the Commission may pose related to these sites.
