The Board met (8) times in the calendar year of 2003 in order to achieve the provisions of Resolution 99-802. Front Row Marketing Services, Inc. has been hired to find a sponsor for the naming rights of the Orange Bowl. This will help the City obtain funding that will be applied toward the redevelopment of the stadium. There has been significant activity in the past year in an effort to find a suitable sponsor; however, these activities have not yet resulted in a finalized agreement. Front Row Marketing continues to search for a suitable sponsor. This year the Orange Bowl's revenues have increased 70% from last year for a total of $3,893,596.27. This increase in revenues is mainly due to the hiring of Boston Concessions, the new concessionaires for the stadium, which have guaranteed $950,000. in revenues for the City. Another cause for the increase is due to the many events that have been hosted at the stadium including the 2003 Gold Cup and several other significant international soccer matches including two Olympic qualifying matches. We are also pleased to announce that the Orange Bowl Stadium has been placed on the Legislative Agenda for 2004. The two amendments being presented are: Professional Sports Tax Legislation, to permit stadiums that host international soccer games to qualify to receive funds from this revenue source and the Support Amendment of C hapter 212.08 (S)(n), F Iorida S tatutes t o a How a ny p ublic athletic facility, at which the athletic team of a private or public university or college is based, to retain sales tax generated by the facility for renovations. The Orange Bowl Advisory Board is committed to improving the Orange Bowl Stadium and to meet the challenges established by the City Commission toward this goal. C: Orange Bowl Advisory Board Members
