NX5800 and CLU6000 Systems
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully requested that the City Commission approve the attached resolution authorizing
the City Manager to acquire software licenses and annual software subscriptions for the NX5800
Clearpath and CLU6000 Tape Backup Systems at an initial (1) year cost not to exceed $171,851,
from the Unisys Corporation (non-local/non-minority), 5201 Blue Lagoon Drive Suite 340
Miami, Florida 33126, under the State of Florida Contract number 250-000-03-1, effective
through July 31, 2005, subject to extensions or replacement contracts by the State of Florida,
with the option to renew these licenses and subscriptions for two (2) additional one (1) year
periods at annual price not to exceed $106,576 in each of the extension periods. Funds are hereby
allocated from General Fund Account Code no. 001000.460101.6.670.
BACKGROUND:
The requested software licenses and annual software subscriptions provide for the essential
software, software upgrades and support required for the continued operations of the NX5800
Clearpath and CLU6000 Tape Backup Systems. The current software license and subscription
agreement, a five year prepaid agreement executed in January 1999, is due to expire on January
31, 2004. These enterprise platforms, and the associated software licenses and subscriptions, are
utilized to support the City of Miami's mission critical applications; such as, Police Dispatch,
Fire Dispatch, Payroll, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Police Reporting and Fire Reporting. The
requested software licenses and annual software subscriptions are required to ensure the
continued, uninterrupted operation of the City's enterprise applications.
