Commercial Solid Waste IVianagement Advisory Committee
Accomplishments
The CSWMAC was established in April 1999 to discuss solid waste management issues
within, the City of Miami, Specifically, the objectives of the committee,as stated in
Chapter 22, are:
• To provide advice and recommendations to the City Commission concerning solid
waste management in conjunction and cooperation with the Department of Solid
Waste and commercial haulers (franchisees).
To offer recommendations related to theestablishment of suggested guidelines
relating to the business of commercial solid waste management.
To negotiate with battlers applying for or renowing valid non-exclusive
franchises.
• To provide Air all repertk required by law.
• To ensure the continued compliance of the City's Solid Waste Ordinance
(Chapter 22) in conjunction with the Specified regulations of Florida Statutes

The board has not fully served the function for which it was created. Currently, we are in
the process of modifying Chapter 22 of the City Code as it relates to the board
membership to better serve the purpose for which iit was intended and to more effectively
address solid waste and recycling needs of the community.
Currently, there is no other board either public or private, which serves the same function
of this board, There has been no financial impact beeause the board did not meet in 2014.
