Larger enrollment for after school and summer camp. 2. Introduction of a senior program. 3. Rentals for neighborhood celebrations —.baby showers, community meetings, birthday party etc. 4. Expanded programming for the community such as the opportunity to partner or allow permits that can offer additional services like — yoga, aerobics, ESOL classes, parenting classes, etc. CONCLUSIONS (cont.) 5. Expand the Epark — more computers for public use. 6. Allow the opportunity for computer classes via a partnership with a community technology group. 7. The children would have bathrooms inside the building to utilize while in programs. 8. Enhance the Park by providing a central meeting point for the community that will offer multiple uses to all ages. rovements a nsportation Progra DOUGLAS PARK NEW COMMUNITY BUILDING ents and Transportation Program ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATION 1. City of Miami conducted City -Wide evaluation of Parks after discovering contamination at Blanche Park. 2. On -site park inspections, review of historic aerial -view maps, and City archives were researched for clues in regards to which City properties may have been used for dumping. 3. City discovered evidence that landfill activities once occurred at Douglas Park. 4. Soil testing confirmed presence of heavy metals in soil beneath the ground surface. 5. Soil test results were submitted to the Miami -Dade Department of Resource Management (DERM) for evaluation. DERM issued letter to City on November 21, 2013 recommending that the park be closed until the extent of heavy metals in the soil is investigated. 6. The soil data has been collected throughout the 10 acres of the park and a cleanup action plan is in the planning stage to present to DERM for approval. 7.
