Discussion regarding the Trolley Smart Phone Application and Global Positioning System ("GPS")
tracking.
Background Information:
This discussion item will describe the implementation of a Computer Aided Dispatch and Automatic
Vehicle Location ("CAD/AVL") system ("System") to improve operations and increase reliability of
Miami Trolley vehicles. The System will also allow for the users to track the location of each Miami
Trolley vehicle, using real-time Global Positioning System (GPS). The discussion will also include the
development of a public website and a smart phone application providing passengers with real-time
trolley location and Estimated Times of Arrival.
