HomeMy WebLinkAboutLegislationCity of Miami Legislation Resolution City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-00693 Final Action Date: A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO DISCONTINUE THE PAYPHONE PILOT PROGRAM ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 01-449, ADOPTED MAY 10, 2001; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ALL STEPS NECESSARY TO REMOVE SAID PAYPHONES FROM ANY AND ALL RIGHTS OF WAY WITHIN THE CITY OF MIAMI, REGARDLESS OF OWNERSHIP. WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 01-449, adopted May 10, 2001, the City Commission authorized a Payphone Pilot Program with First American Telecom, allowing them to install payphone kiosks on the streets of the City of Miami ("City"); and WHEREAS, a pilot program is not intended to last over eleven (11) years; and WHEREAS, the Payphone Pilot Program was to be temporary in nature and last only one (1) year, but due to oversight, has continued far past its expected timeframe; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to discontinue the Payphone Pilot Program established pursuant to Resolution No. 01-449, adopted May 10, 2001. Section 3. The City Manager is further directed to take all steps necessary to remove said payphones from any and all rights of way within the City, regardless of ownership. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor. {1} APPROVED AS TO FORM AND CORRECTNESS JULIE O.
