DEAR ABBY
Drop jealousy over
a wedding dance
Dear Abby: My boyfriend
of one year, `Eddie," has
been invited to the wedding
of a waitress who works at
restaurant/bar he fre-
quents Iwas not invited.
Eddie doesn't dance and has
slow danced with me only
once. When I told him I
would not appreciate him
slow dancing with anyone
there, we had a heated argu-
ment Eddie told me 'have
no right to tell him what to
do and that I'm trying to
control him
Ifeel Eddie has little
regard for my feelings. If he
really cares for me, he
wouldn't want to dance
with anyone else
— His only
dance partner
If you
would like
to "gradu-
ate" from
girlfriend to
ABBY fiancee, you
will stop try-
ing to control him and tell
him you hope he has a good
time atthe wedding.Insecu-
rity is not an attractive trait,
so calmdown andrecognize
that a dance is only a dance.
Dear Abby: My wife and I
will be married 25years and
have three children. In my
family, my dad was the
boss. Ialways was, too, but
never was involved very
nmch with the kids.
N that the kids are
gone, I realize 'should have
been a better husband My
wift by ignores me and
spends her time with the
kids and going places. I feel
left out. She doesn't even
want to celebrate our up-
omirg 25th. Should we?
— Regretting in Illinois
Ask your wife why she
doesn't think that 25 years
of marriage is something to
celebrate, because it should
be. She may spend her time
with the kids and going
places because that is what
she has been doing for all
these years.
There is still time for
you to mend this marriage,
provided you are both
willing to work on it. How-
ever, it may take the serv-
ices of a marriage
counselor.

Hundreds of people took advantage of windy weather and clear skies on
Sunday during the 20th annual Kite Day festival at Haulover Beach Park in

could afford to pay the
pool's annual operating
costs, most recently esti-

city faitedto meet a Decem-

threatened to withdraw the

The city already has spent
about $200,000 on a design
that won't be used Now the
city is moving to hire a de-
sign -build contractor, and
— for a fourth time — to try
to make a deal with a con-
struction company.
Community leaders have
said that not having a pool
endangers the lives of the
children in the neighbor-
hood, which has been pre-
dominantly African -Ameri-

the city could use $100,000
from the city's Community

used to benefit that area of
the city.
Nevertheless, Vice Mayor
Josh Liebmand and Com-

Lunch observation
leaves a bad taste
Dear Carolyn: My hus-
band eats hunch with his
co-workers every day. I
joined them out recently
and one of his single, fe-
male co-workers began
eating off his plate When I
noticed it, she scotched
back her hand
My husband is pretty
familiar with his co-work-
ers, but I'm pretty sure he
would be livid that a single,
male co-worker was eating
off rnyplate, especially if it
appeared to be a habit.
Pin not worries even
remotely that he's cheating
on me (and wouldn't read
this as evidence he was),
but I am jealous. I am also
worried that his boundaries
at work
should be
better and
maybe I
should say
something?
Amlre-
acting over
nothing or
is this a trespass?
— Too Territorial?
Normally I suggest get-
ting to know your own
mind before raising a diffi-
cult topic like this, but
here I suggest the reverse
— talking about it with
your husband to help you
get to know your own
mind And his.
The important thing is
to present it not as an
accusation disguised as a
hypothetical, but instead
as genuinely trying to
understand something that
muck you as odd. You
want to know why it's
bugging you, and how he
sees it — including how
he'd see it if a male col-
league ate off your plate.
Spell out, even, that
you're not accusing anyone
of anything, you're just
chewing (sorry) on this
and so it makes sense to go
to the source. That leaves
him ample room to say,
"Huh,I never thought
about it that way, I guess I
am sending a bad message
here," or to make an argu-
ment that ifs nothing —
which in turn will give you
ample room to learn some-
thing from his response.

Once the error was dis-

was six inches longer than
the one netted by the an-

measured10 feet, 7 inches.
Ramirez should have
placed second.
An embarrassed Frank

More than 1,600 people
