Beverly Pruitt
Human Resources Director
City of Miami
444 SW 2nd Avenue, Room 129
Miami, FL 33130
Dear Ms. Pruitt:
Please consider this letter and resume as part of my application for the position of City Clerk with the City of Miami. I
have reviewed the position profile and have researched its duties against my background, and I find them to be a unique
fit.
Since 2003, I have served in the capacity of Deputy City Clerk and City Clerk for several Southern California
jurisdictions and have acquired extensive knowledge of local, federal and state laws, statutes, rules, regulations,
ordinances, and codes related to the operation of a local government and of a City Clerk's Department. During my tenure
in the City Clerk's profession, I have coordinated the City Council agenda process, managed local municipal consolidated
as well as stand-alone elections including special elections; and managed a staff of several members.
In these capacities, I have always interacted effectively with members of the community while building professional
working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Further, I have accomplished technical tasks,
which have resulted not only in efficiencies and improvements in productivity across the board, but more importantly
have resulted in tangible savings for these communities. While working for fiscally conservative Cities and City Councils,
I have also had the opportunity to improve productivity in the Clerk's Office; reduce expenditures by using technology in
key areas; and used performance measures that are strictly tied to resource allocation and outcomes.
With my solid experience in the City Clerk's profession, knowledge of records management functions, use of electronic
document management systems along with a strong service ethic, I feel that I am uniquely qualified for this position.
I welcome the opportunity to meet with you in person or a member of your staff relative to my candidacy for the City
Clerk's position in the City of Miami. I may be reached at 562-708-2734.
Sincerely,
Daryl A. Betancur, CMC, MPA
