Through committee meetings, community forums, educational trainings, surveys and a comprehensive quality management program, the Partnership obtains input on community needs, sets priorities and allocates Ryan White Part A and Minority AIDS Initiative (MAI) funds in Miami -Dade County. In 2010, more than $24 million were allocated to Miami -Dade County in Part A and MAI funds which provided services to more than 9,600 residents living with HIV/AIDS. ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2010, THE PARTNERSHIP •. Completed an annual needs assessment, including review of epidemiological, utilization and cost data, and analysis of unmet needs of PLWHA in the County. • Made recommendations for prioritizing services and allocating An estimated 2,964 people more than $24 million in Ryan White Program funds for HIV/ in Miami -Dade County are AIDS services. Worked with the Miami -Dade .County Office of Grants flIV positive and unaware • Coordination throughout the year to assure allocated funds were of their status spent in accordance with Federal policy and distributed to the areas of greatest need. • Drafted a community response in protest to the Florida AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) implementation of a statewide waitlist. • Worked with the City of Miami Housing Opportunities for People With AIDS (HOPWA) Program to promote Long Term Rental Assistance and Project -Based housing opportunities, explore other housing options and increase community collaboration. • Coordinated efforts with the Florida Department of Corrections to ensure HIV -positive persons released from jails and prisons are connected to care. • Monitored and guided the Miami -Dade 2009-2011 Comprehensive Plan for HIV/AIDS objectives. • Ensured representation at a variety of state and local events, including local World AIDS Day, National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day and National Latino HIV/AIDS Awareness Day events, and the 2010 Ryan White Program Grantee Meeting in Washington, DC and 2010 U.S. Conference on AIDS in Orlando, FL. Miami -Dade County has the highest HIV/AIDS infection rate in the state of Florida • Continued active membership in the Florida Comprehensive Planning Network Patient Care Planning Group. • Collaborated efforts with Faith -Based Community Leaders • In 2009, made recommendations to the MDC Commissioners that were incorporated into Resolution No. R-303-09, urging the Obama Administration to establish a National HIV/AIDS Strategy.
