Subject: Resolution accepting grant funds from the Miami -Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization for the
preparation of a Baywalk Action Plan: Implementation, Restoration and Technical Solutions Study.
Purpose of Item:
To accept grant funds in the amount of $48,000 from the Miami -Dade Metropolitan Planning Organization
(MPO) for the preparation of a Baywalk Action Plan: Implementation, Restoration and Technical Solutions
Study. The grant requires a minimum .City of Miami (City) match of 20% or $12,000, which has been identified
from Capital Improvements Project No. B-30645D. Resolution further authorizes the City Manager to execute
an Interlocal Agreement for said purpose. Funds are to be appropriated by separate resolution.
Background Information:
The City applied for and has been awarded a grant in the amount of $48,000 from the Miami -Dade MPO under
the Fiscal Year 2011-2012 Municipal Grant Program to assist in the preparation of a City Baywalk Action Plan:
Implementation, Restoration and Technical Solutions Study. The grant requires a minimum City match of 20%
or $12,000, which has been identified from Capital Improvement Project No. B-30645D.
The study will provide a plan for the implementation of a continuous and publicly accessible baywalk along
Alice Wainright Park and Albert Pallot Park, which will include feasibility and constructability analysis,
alternative alignment options and jurisdictional responsibilities, and will identify and prioritize short and long
term improvements.
