Subject: Resolution Authorizing new Agreement with Belafonte Tacolcy Center, Inc. for 2011-2012
period to operate the Sports Development Program at Belafonte Tacolcy Park. .
Purpose of Item:
Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with Belafonte Tacolcy Center,
Inc. (BTC),, in the amount of $86,675.00, with an option to renew for a one (1) year period for the
same amount and under the same terms and conditions, to continue the operation of the Sports
Development Program at Belafonte Tacolcy Park for the 2011-2012 contract period beginning
October 1st , 2011. Funding for said purposes will be allocated from the Parks and Recreation
Department General Fund account number 00001.291001.882000.0000.0000.
Background Information:
The Department of Parks and Recreation recommends that the City of Miami executes an agreement.
with Belafonte Tacolcy Center, Inc., in the amount of $86,675.00 to continue funding the Sports
Development Program at Belafonte Tacolcy Park. The Sports Development Program provides
structural leisure -time recreational/sports activities as well as cultural awareness workshops. Funding
of this program saves the city money by not having to provide park recreation services and staff at this
park. The period of this agreement is from October 1, 2011 to September 30th 2012 and will be
funded through the City's Parks Department budget of 2011-2012.
