Purpose of Item: AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO GRANT ADDITIONAL TIME TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") AND LITTLE HAITI HOUSING ASSOCIATION, INC., EXTENDING THE AGREEMENT END DATE FROM SEPTEMBER 30, 2011 TO SEPTEMBER 30, 2012, FOR PUBLIC FACILITIES AND IMPROVEMENT ACTIVITIES; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH SAID ENTITY, FOR SAID PURPOSE(S). Director /4 ' ity Manager Page. 1,of .1 AGENDA ITEM SUMMARY FORM CONTINUED Background Information: Pursuant to Resolution No. 10-0360, adopted September 16, 2010, the Miami City Commission approved the allocation of 36th Program Year Community Development Block Grant Funds, in the amount of $2,304,039, in the Economic Development category with an allocation of $53,000 to Little Haiti Housing Association for public facilities and improvement activities. Little Haiti Housing Association experienced delays in satisfying the insurance requirements and the contract, therefore, could not be executed and the project could not be completed by the end of its term. Little Haiti Housing Association, Inc. is still desirous to complete the project. The Administration recommends granting additional time to execute the Agreement between the City and Little Haiti Housing Association, Inc., extending the Agreement end date from September 30, 2011 to September 30, 2012, for public facilities and improvement activities.
