A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "SOCCER
FOR SUCCESS 2011-2012," CONSISTING OFA REIMBURSEMENT GRANT, IN
THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $55,000, IN THE FORM OF A CASH DONATION,
AND IN -KIND SERVICES OF TRAINING AND EQUIPMENT VALUED AT $56,340,
FORA TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $111,340, FROM THE NATIONAL
RECREATION AND PARK ASSOCIATION, TO FUND THE DEPARTMENT OF
PARKS AND RECREATION'S YEAR-ROUND SOCCER PROGRAM FOR
ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED YOUTH PARTICIPATING IN THE CITY OF
MIAMI PARKS AND RECREATION AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS; FURTHER
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A GRANT AGREEMENT, IN
SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, AND ALL OTHER NECESSARY
AMENDMENTS, EXTENSIONS, AND MODIFICATIONS, TO IMPLEMENT THE
ACCEPTANCE AND COMPLIANCE OF SAID GRANT AWARD, FOR THE PERIOD
COMMENCING AUGUST 1, 2011 THROUGH JULY 31, 2012.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami's ("City's") Department of Parks and Recreation has been
awarded a grant from the National Parks and Recreation Association for the Soccer for Success
Program, in the total amount not to exceed $111,340, consisting of a cash donation of $55,000 and
in -kind services of training and equipment valued at $56,340; and
WHEREAS, the goal of the Soccer for Success Program is to introduce more children to the
sport of soccer, improve the overall health, well-being and to bring awareness of potential risks for
obesity due to lack of exercise; and
WHEREAS, the City must execute an award package including the National Parks and
Recreation Association Grant Agreement, attached and incorporated;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble of this Resolution are adopted
by reference incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:

APPROPRIATIONS: $111,340
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute a Grant Agreement, in substantially
the attached form, and all other necessary amendments, extensions, and modifications to implement
the acceptance and compliance ofsaid grant award,. for the period commencing August 1, 2011
through July 31, 2012.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor. {2}

Footnote:
{1} The herein authorization is further subjected to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} if the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten (10)
calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this resolution, it shall
become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City of Miami Commission.
