Background Information:
Due to the high unemployment rates, the City of Miami is seeking to establish a new comprehensive
workforce center ("center") to bring added employment and training resources to the community. To
establish said center, the City is partnering with The South Florida Workforce Investment Board
(SFWIB) , which will provide funding for the operation, administration and training for job seekers
totaling $2,320,741. The City also worked with the Miami Dade County Public Schools to secure
6,200 square feet at the Lindsey Hopkins Educational Center located at 750 NW 20 Street for the
establishment of the One Stop Workforce Center. In order to establish the Center, the City is also
requesting that organizational chart is expanded for the South Florida Workforce unit to be created
under the Office of Grants Administration and Sustainable Initiatives with up to thirty (30) grant
funded positions.
