ENCLOSURES:
1
The City of Miami closed the period for candidate qualifying for the November 1, 2011
General Municipal Election on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 6:00 PM. Only one
potential candidate qualified to run in the Commission District 4 race. Pursuant to City
Code Section 16-8, an Election for Commission District 4 is not required.
The Office of the City Clerk, in coordination with the Miami -Dade County Elections
Department, had initially selected the six (6) locations to utilize as early voting sites for what
was originally a three (3) district race.
The average estimated cost for an early voting site is $3,200 per site per day. The
average estimated cost for an early voting site for the entire 8-day early voting period is
$25,000. •
. The Office of the City Clerk is requesting consideration to reduce the number of
early voting sites from six(6) to five (5) for a potential cost reduction of $25,000. The
five (5) remaining sites listed below, the locations of which can be viewed on the
accompanying map, are strategically located to sufficiently serve the electors of
Commission Districts 1 and 2.
