A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE PROJECT ENTITLED: "2011-2012
VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT (VOCA)" CONSISTING OF A GRANT AWARD FROM
THE STATE OF FLORIDA, OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL, DIVISION OF
VICTIM SERVICES AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAMS, IN THE AMOUNT OF
$32,247, AND THE CITY OF MIAMI'S REQUIRED MATCHING FUNDS IN THE
AMOUNT OF $8,062, IN -KIND SERVICES FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI POLICE
DEPARTMENT, FORA TOTAL AMOUNT OF $40,309; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT AWARD AND TO EXECUTE THE GRANT
AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, TO IMPLEMENT THE
ACCEPTANCE AND ADMINISTRATION OF SAID GRANT.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") submitted a grant application to the State of Florida, Office of
the Attorney General, Division of Victim Services and Criminal Justice Programs, to fund services
provided to crime victims; and
WHEREAS, the City received notification that said application was approved for funding in an
amount not to exceed $32,247, for Fiscal Year 2011-2012 to fund said services; and
WHEREAS, the City's Department of Police will provide the required twenty percent (20%) match
of an amount not to exceed $8,062, in the form of in -kind personnel services towards the operation of
this program; and
WHEREAS, funds from this grant will be used for the continued funding of a Victims Advocate's
position for the duration of one (1) year to coordinate services for the victims of crime; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for the City Manager to accept said grant and to establish a new
Special Revenue Project for the appropriation of said award;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Project is established and resources are
appropriated as described below:

Section 3. The City Manager is authorized {1} to accept said grant and to execute the necessary
documents, in substantially the attached form, to implement the acceptance and administration of said
grant.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.{2}

Footnotes:
{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City
Charter and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten
calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it
shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
