The Code Enforcement Board was created to issue orders having the force of law commanding
whatever steps are necessary to bring a Code violation into compliance.
Florida Statutes Section 162.05(2) requires members of the Code Enforcement Board to be
residents of the City of Miami. City Code Section 2-812 states that whenever possible, the
board is to consist of an architect, a businessperson, an engineer, a general contractor, a
subcontractor, and a realtor.
Four (4) appointments are needed at this time:
• Commissioner Marc Sarnoff has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:
1. Vacant.
• Commissioner Michelle Spence -Jones has one (1) nomination for a seat currently:
1. Vacant.
• Commission At -Large has three (3) nominations for seats currently held by:
1. Marta L. Zayas, incumbent, Alternate member, whose term expires on September
10, 2011, has exceeded the number of absences (6 in 2011), and would require a
4/5ths waiver of attendance.
2. Vacant, Alternate member.
For your convenience, we have included a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy
of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the September 15,
2011 Commission agenda.
