A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
ADDING THE PALM BEACH COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE, BROWARD COUNTY
SHERIFF'S OFFICE, FORT LAUDERDALE POLICE DEPARTMENT, HOLLYWOOD
POLICE DEPARTMENT, NORTH MIAMI POLICE DEPARTMENT, MIAMI-DADE
POLICE DEPARTMENT, MIAMI BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE CORAL
GABLES POLICE DEPARTMENT, AS PARTICIPATING AGENCIES IN THE MIAMI
URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE ("UASI") GRANT PROGRAM FISCAL YEAR
("FY") 2008, PURSUANT TO RESOLUTION NO. 09-0413, ADOPTED SEPTEMBER
10, 2009; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE MEMORANDUM OF
AGREEMENTS, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM(S), FOR SAID
PURPOSE; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM UASI GRANT PROGRAM FISCAL YEAR
2008, PTAEO NO. 18-180018-01.06.07-1660-EQUIP-181000.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0413, adopted September 10, 2009, the City of
Miami ("City") accepted grant funds from the United States Department of Homeland Security, through
the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management, for the Urban Area Security Initiative ("UASI")
Grant Program Fiscal Year ("FY") 2008 to provide funds to address the unique equipment, training,
planning, exercise and operational needs for urban areas, and to assist in building an enhanced and
sustainable capacity to prevent, respond to, and recover from threats or acts of terrorism; and
WHEREAS, the term of the original Agreement, UASI Grant Program FY 2008, was set to
expire May 31, 2011, and Modification No. 1 was issued by the State of Florida, Division of Emergency
Management to reinstate, modify and extend said grant; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 11-0199, adopted May 12, 2011, the City reinstated
and modified the original Agreement by extending it to August 31, 2011; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the UASI FY 2008 Grant Program, the addition of the
participating agencies of the Palm Beach County Sheriffs Office, Broward Sheriffs Office, Fort
Lauderdale Police Department, Hollywood Police Department, North Miami Police Department,
Miami -Dade Police Department, Miami Beach Police Department, and the Coral Gables Police
Department, (collectively, the Departments"), will assist in the distribution of Radiological Detection
equipment and will specify maintenance, inventory, and disposal responsibilities, as described in the
Memorandum of Agreements ("MOAs"), attached and incorporated, in accordance with the UASI
grant's policies;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.

Section 2. The Departments are added as participating agencies in the UASI Grant Program
FY 2008, pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0413, adopted September 10, 2009.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorized{1} to execute MOAs, in substantially the attached
form(s), for said purpose, with funds allocated from UASI Grant Program FY year 2008, PTAEO No.
18-180018-01.06.07-1660-Equip-181000.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature
of the Mayor. {2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be
imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter
and Code provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
