HomeMy WebLinkAboutSubmittal-Correspondence-Abed Mammoud-Objection to MiMo BIDGood morning commissioners June 23, 2011
Thank you for allowing me to speak to you.
I own a vacant lot on7500 Biscayne Blvd. and I am here today to express to you my
disagreement and objection to the special assessment district to be known as MiMo Bid. I am
already paying very high taxes on a vacant lot that don't generate any income. I can't afford to
pay more taxes to MiMo Bid group that I don't see any benefit from their services. The
government collects from the property owner's taxes to provide all the services that MiMo are
proposing. We don't need to pay more for services that we already paid for it. I would like to
mention that other property's owners disagree as well.
If some property owners accept the assessment it is their choice, and those who do not wish to
participate should not be forced to accept the assessment and they should be excluded from it.
We need to keep in mind that the value of the properties on Biscayne blvd had been damaged
by imposing the historic district and the thirty five feet height limitation.
The MiMo business improvement committee (MiMo BIC) proposal should be limited in the
number of time. They should not be able to keep coming back trying to collect new affidavits
and petitions every time. It should be limited to two time only no more than that.
It is not fair to keep forcing the property owners to deal time after time with the same issue.
Their proposal was rejected three times already. It is the fourth time the issue come up to the
commission, it is not fair to people who can't leave their work and come to the commission to
express their opinion. MiMo Bid are talking about problems, they may not be able to solve.
Finally I hope that Commissioner Sarnoff and all the commissioners, to treat the property
owners with fairness.
Thank you

Business Crime and Security
It has been found in most BID areas that crime
has a major impact on business profit. In some
areas, BIDs have focused purely on the crime
issue. Other areas have had it as a key priority.

not be able to provide every solution in this table.
