HomeMy WebLinkAboutBiography of Floriberto LagunaFloriberto Laguna committed over 30 years of his life to serving the Miami community. As a
business leader and entrepreneur he worked to make the community around him a better
place. His generosity and compassion for those in need was one of a kind. He was known for
cooking and feeding over 500 of Miami's most needy citizens every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
He was a friend and father to many. He arrived to the United States in 1972 after being
detained as a political prisoner in Cuba. With nothing more than a couple of dollars, he made it
a point to make Miami his home and provide for his two young daughters.
As a business leader he strived to build affordable housing for residents in Allapattah and
invested in the growth of the neighborhood. Laguna earlier in his career worked in the
construction industry, owning a local hardware store and cement company. Though he was a
successful business leader he was also a passionate chef and owned Laguna Seafood
Restaurant, a well known restaurant even today. His legacy lives on in the City of Miami.
