Re: City Commission June 9, 2011 Agenda Item SR. 1
Dear Commissioner Suarez:
This letter serves as the Miami River Commission's (MRC) "official
statement" to the City Commission, requested in City Resolution 00-
320, regarding June 9, 2011 City Commission agenda item SR. 1,
which impacts the Miami River corridor.
On October 6, 2008, the City of Miami administration made a
presentation to the Miami River Commission, which passed a
recommendation 8-3, "to deny the City's proposal to allow installation
of new billboards at riverfront Jose Marti Park and at South Fork's
Fern Isle Park, as it is inappropriate and inconsistent with the Miami
River Greenway Action Plan."
I appreciate your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Horacio Stuart Aguirre
Chair,
Miami River Commission
