On October 6, 2008, the City of Miami administration made a presentation to the Miami River Commission, which passed a recommendation 8-3, "to deny the City's proposal to allow installation of new billboards at riverfront Jose Marti Park and at South Fork's Fern Isle Park, as it is inappropriate and inconsistent with the Miami River Greenway Action Plan."
