A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
PURSUANT TO SECTION 18-82(A) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, CLASSIFYING FOURTEEN (14) DELL LATITUDE C840
LAPTOPS WITH ADAPTERS, WITH AN APPROXIMATE VALUE OF LESS THAN
$1,400, FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, AS
"CATEGORY A" SURPLUS STOCK; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF
TEN (10) OF THESE COMPUTERS, TO THE CURLEY'S HOUSE OF STYLE
INCORPORATED, TWO (2) TO THE CAROL MANOR CENTER AND TWO (2) TO
THE MARTIN FINE VILLAS COMMUNITY CENTER, ALL OF WHOM
COLLECTIVELY AGREE TO ACCEPT SAID DONATION AND BECOME THE SOLE
PROPERTY OWNERS IN ORDER TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO LAPTOP
COMPUTERS TO CITY OF MIAMI RESIDENTS IN NEED, UPON THE EXECUTION
OF THE APPROPRIATE RELEASE DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami ("City") Information Technology Department has fourteen (14)
laptops and adapters that are no longer under warranty as of 2007, and since the configuration
and capability of these laptops are very low to efficiently run the multiple City enterprise
applications and the newer version of the operational system; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Information Technology wishes to donate these laptops to
Curley's House of Style Incorporated, Carol Manor Center and Martin Fine Villas Community
Center; and
WHEREAS, Section 18-82(a), of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended ("City
Code"), entitled "Disposal of surplus city -owned personal property," states that a surplus declared
as "Category A" stock, shall be available for disposition as the City's contribution or the City's
commitment in support of a particular public purpose, which may include those community, civic or
social service programs as may be authorized by the City Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Curley's House of Style Incorporated, Carol Manor Center and Martin Fine
Villas Community Center have all agreed to accept the donation of these fourteen (14) laptops
and adapters as the sole property owners and to use them in their capacities as community
organizations providing service programs to their respective communities; and
WHEREAS, Curley's House of Style Incorporated, Carol Manor Center and Martin Fine Villas
Community Center have agreed to make all the necessary repairs to the laptops should they need
to; and
WHEREAS, in connection with its control and exclusive use of the laptops, Curley's House of

Style Incorporated, Carol Manor Center and Martin Fine Villas Community Center are wholly
responsible for all future costs of their maintenance and repairs; and
WHEREAS, Curley's House of Style Incorporated, Carol Manor Center and Martin Fine Villas
Community Center will utilize these laptops to provide access to families in need in an effort to
improve the quality of life for residents within Liberty City, Allapattah, Brownsville, the City, Little
Haiti, West Little River and many others;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. Pursuant to Section 18-82(a), of the City Code, the fourteen (14) Dell Latitude
C840 laptops with adapters, as itemized on Attachment A, attached and incorporated, with an
estimated value of less than $1,400, from the Department of Information Technology, are classified
as "Category A" surplus stock.
Section 3. The donation of ten (10) of these computers, to the Curley's House of Style
Incorporated and two (2) to the Carol Manor Center and two (2) to the Martin Fine Villas
Community Center, all whom collectively agree to accept said donation and become the sole
property owners in order to provide access to laptop computers to City residents in need, is
authorized, upon the execution of the appropriate release documents.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption and signature
of the Mayor.{1}
Footnotes:
{1} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar
days from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become
effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
