Subject: Swimming Pool Chemicals and Supplies and Bulk Liquid Chlorine and Storage Tank Rental
Purpose of Item:
A resolution of the Miami City Commission accepting the bids of Commercial Energy Specialists,
Inc. (Group 1) and Pro Star Pool Supplies (Group 2), for Swimming Pool Chemicals and Supplies and
Bulk Liquid Chlorine and Storage Tank Rental, for the Department of Parks and Recreation, for an
initial contract period of one (1) year with the option to renew for four (4) additional one-year periods,
allocating funds from the various sources of funds from the user department, subject to the availability
of funds and budgetary approval at time of need.
Background Information:
The City has a need to purchase swimming pool chemicals and supplies and bulk liquid chlorine and
storage tank rental services, for the Department of Parks and Recreation. On January 14, 2011, the
Purchasing Depactntent issued an Invitation for Bid (IFB No. 260254). As required by the
Procurement Code, the IFB was advertised and issued online. On February 1, 2011, at the bid
opening, three (3) bidders submitted bids, and the bids were tabulated.
The Invitation for Bid listed two (2) groups and the method of award was based on a group by group
basis. The Purchasing Department is recommending award of Group 1 to Commercial Energy
Specialists, Inc. and Group 2 to Pro Star Pool Supplies, the two lowest responsive and responsible
bidders, per bid specifications. The estimated annual amount is $241,380.83.
