Director Chief G/� Cjty Manage Page 1 of 1 Background Information: (continued) The United States Department of Homeland Security ("USDHS") passed through the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management, has sub -granted the Urban Area Security Initiative ("UASI") Grant Program FY 2008 to the City of Miami ("City"), accepted pursuant to Resolution No. 09-0413, adopted September 10, 2009, to provide funds to address the unique equipment, planning, exercise and operational needs for large urban areas. These funds ensure regional interoperability between agencies during a time, and in conjunction with, preparation for, or in an anticipation of, a major disaster or emergency related to terrorism and or weapons of mass destruction. Furthermore, said Modification #1 authorizes the City Manager to reinstate and extend said UASI grant program FY 2008, from May 31S`, 2011 to August 31S`, 2011, as necessary and to execute any other related modifications, amendments or extensions on all matters except those dealing with funding changes, in connection with the development and support of the UASI Grant Program administered by the City's Department of Fire -Rescue.
