A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT(S),
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A JOINT PARTICIPATION
AGREEMENT, IN SUBSTANTIALLY THE ATTACHED FORM, WITH THE FLORIDA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ("FDOT"), FOR THE US-1 ROADWAY
IMPROVEMENTS AND WALL REPLACEMENT PHASE II PROJECT, B-30542A
("PROJECT"); ACCEPTING THE CONTRIBUTION OF FDOT FUNDS, IN THE
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $83,537, FOR SAID PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the US-1 Roadway Improvements and Wall Replacement Phase II Project, B-30542A
("Project") consists of roadway improvements and the restoration of the traffic barrier wall along
Southwest 19th Avenue to Southwest 17th Avenue, Miami, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") has jurisdiction over and maintains
the State Road (S.R.) 5/US-1 corridor in the City of Miami ("City") and has agreed to contribute funds
in the amount not to exceed $83,537; and
WHEREAS, said contribution will be utilized to improve the drainage system along US-1 to help
prevent the flooding that is currently experienced in the outside eastbound lane; and
WHEREAS, construction of the drainage improvements concurrently will help minimize impacts to
the traveling public; and
WHEREAS, the attached Joint Participation Agreement ("JPA") has been negotiated between the
City and FDOT detailing the responsibilities of the parties; and
WHEREAS, the City will be responsible for the management and administration of the Project; and
--WHEREAS-funds-are -to-be-appropriated-by-a-separate-resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by
reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is authorized {1} to execute a JPA, in substantially the attached form,
with FDOT, and to accept FDOT funds, in the amount not to exceed $83,537, for the Project.
Section 3. This Resolution .shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of
the Mayor. {2}

{1} The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed
by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code
provisions.
{2} If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days
from the date it was passed and adopted. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
