However, this "innovator" term is rarely associated with the public sector. But upon further analysis, it's safe to say that behind every valiant step to revitalize and empower a community are innovators who continue to push boundaries forward and explore new ideas on various ways to improve the overall quality of life in the community. While some may be aware of the CRA, many in the community are not fully acquainted with the CRA and it's ultimate mission. Through unparalleled commitment and determination, the devoted professionals who oversee the SEOPW CRA continually pursue the mission of ensuring that Overtown and the Park West neighborhoods emerge as vibrant and thriving communities. Objective Certain terms such as revitalization, transformation and rebuilding often conjure suspicion among local residents within the community. And though the CRA's efforts and initiatives are communicated via monthly board meetings, it's imperative that the CRA establishes a digital (video) footprint on its website. The implementation of educational and informative digital content will also cater to the tech savvy millennials who consume content via their smartphones, tablets and laptops. Public awareness and approval are key factor for sustainability. In order to keep the public aware of the organization's mission and latest developments, we propose the launch of CRA TV (YouTube Network) — A platform in conjunction with the CRA website that will include creative and informative content that is used to attract corporate sponsorship and new businesses into the community. 4 Our objective is to produce the following compelling media products: (1) Provide a steady stream of (12) informative community custom recap (capsules) content for the CRA website. (2) Produce a "Business Development" promo for its community. (3) Produce a Community Prorno Capsule, (4) Produce an Arts & Culture Promo (5) Produce a CRA Electronic Press Kit (EPK) to introduce the CRA team to the community. (6) Produce a CRA mini Documentary that highlights the CRA's accomplishments from a historical perspective. Recap Event Videos and Custom Content Ground Breaking ceremonies, community initiatives, outreach and festivals show progress and also cultivate a shared sense of pride while also building civic character. Annual activities and special events such as the Overtown Arts and Music Festival, Folk Life Fridays, Lyric Live, Overtown Music Project and more, bring the community together for a time of entertainment and edutainment. These events unite the district's emerging diverse population consisting of all social, economic and ethnic backgrounds while celebrating Overtown's and Park West's vibrant culture. The CRA TV event recap videos will maintain ongoing communication with the public and keep them fully updated with the CRA's goals, plans and activities. Viewer feedback, opinions and ideas will also be encouraged. Custom Content and Capsules To ensure that the SEOPW CRA's culture and mission is at the forefront, it's essential to create a conduit for productivity and engagement. The goal is to motivate and inspire the community through custom video content. The CRA website should feature powerful, carefully curated informative and motivational content from the business community, educators, athletes and entertainers who are also stakeholders in the district. In addition, the CRA website should be accompanied by a CRA YouTube site which will host all the videos. The capsules will engage the viewers by showcasing progress and case studies of effective projects that are changing the lives of those who live, work and/or play in the neighborhood. Moreover, this portal should serve as a hub for entertainment and community news. Local area students, who are studying journalism at the high school and college level, will host the recap videos. Not only will this program be informative, it will also be an incubator that nurtures the emerging talent within the community. Business Development Promo 5 Small business is the lifeblood of the U.S. economy and the greatest source of jobs in the community. The CRA continues to generate successful redevelopment projects through the private and public sector with one main goal — to eliminate slum and blight. Its funding efforts have resulted in a multitude of capstones ranging from affordable housing, economic development and capital improvement projects. The Business Development Promo will get up close and personal with the various partners who have invested in the community. We hope to solidify interviews with a few of the executives from the following entities: 1. The Overtown Gateway Partners 2. The Gatehouse Companies 3. Alonzo Mourning Charities 4. Overtown Business Association 5. Miami World Center 6. Miami Innovation District These officials will provide the viewers with an insight on their passion for the district and the reason behind their particular involvement. The overall goal of this promo is to put a face to the various players who are intimately connected to the community. Community Development Promo Improving the quality of life for existing residents is one of the leading tenets of the CRA. Whether it's investing in the renovation/rehabilitation of housing in the redevelopment area, upgrading and improvement of parks, historic preservation of iconic landmarks or implementing the variety of job training programs to attract business and promote job creation, enhancing the living standards for the local inhabitants is the absolute objective for the organization. The Community Development promo will focus on the efficacy of these initiatives by capturing testimonials from those who have benefited the programs. Arts & Culture A thriving community doesn't just survive on business alone. Arts & Culture play an integral component in emerging cutting edge cities. A close look around the community reveals the burgeoning art scene that's pulsating within the boundaries. This promo will highlight some of the up and coming creative forces that are impacting the community through advances in creativity and artistic sustainability within the multimedia arena. Our objective is to showcase the next Purvis Young, Spike Lee, Gordon Parks, Jean Michel Basquiat, Frank Lloyd Wright, etc. right within the community. The CRA EPK What is a CRA? How can this organization assist me? I heard they are giving away free money over there? These are just some of the frequently asked questions pertaining to the CRA. The best way to disseminate viable information to those who wish to be informed is through a digital platform. The CRA LPI( will be a digital video version of the Investing in Overtown CRA 6 booklet. This informative roadmap will be an in-depth insight into the inner workings of the SEOPW CRA. The CRA Mini Documentary The CRA documentary will be a retrospective film chronicling the journey of the SEOPW CRA. The film will captivate the audience by taking the viewers to "memory lane, exploring the colorful and rich history of Overtown and the Park West area. Incorporating archival news clips, photos and firsthand testimonies from some of the original "Towners, we will delve into a riveting examination of the trials and tribulations the CRA has encountered in its quest to maintain and restore the rich culture and. heritage of Overtown Through the course of the documentary, we will meet the professionals, past and present who fought for and were/are instrumental in promoting economic development opportunities in the District. Our characters will range from life long "Towners For Life" politicians, business professionals, activists and advocates for reform. Through engaging and intimate first person stories, the CRA documentary will take viewers where they have never been before: Inside The CRA. Over the last three decades, the CRA redevelopment area has gone through some radical transformations, permeating virtually every aspect of its resident's lives. And while the entity is steadily chipping away at the slum and blight and constantly encouraging economic growth, sometimes it just doesn't seem like things are happening fast enough. The CRA documentary will take a thorough examination of the history of the organization and its profound impact on the lives of the citizens who are the beneficiaries of the CRA's successful accomplishments. By the end of the film, viewers will walk away with the notion that the Overtown and Park West communities are poised to be the best area to live, work and play in the City of Miami. 7 SEOPW CRA SOMETHING IS HAPPENING: People, Heritage and Business Treatment by Wills J. Felin "Something Is Happening" in Overtown is more than just a statement; it's the new way of life in Historical Overtown. After years of slow progress and sometimes stagnation, something truly remarkable is happening in Overtown — it's a modern day renaissance. When strolling through Overtown, a quick look in any direction and one will realize there's indeed a transformation; we see new construction, renovation, entrepreneurship, arts, entertainment, education and most of all, pride. In essence, "Something Is Happening" is not a reactionary phrase; it's an inspirational mantra that inspires everyone in the community to aspire for greatness. "Something Is Happening" applies to every Overtown, resident, student, business owner; it applies to everyone who work and play in the community. Whether it's a young boy growing up in the Swamps with dreams of being a computer programmer, a young girl, being raised by a single mother, who aspires to be a neurosurgeon or that single father who works 70 hour weeks with that one and only goal of launching his own business, whatever the scenario, the bottom line is, people in the community have dreams to conquer and they want to do better! However, nurturing those dreams doesn't just occur by happenstance, it's manifested when caring professionals come together in an environment that's conducive to stimulating minds to reach for true excellence. This series of promos will be a heartfelt campaign that celebrates the resilience of a community that's rising from the ashes like a mighty phoenix. It will encourage and inspire those that dare to dream to never stop believing in themselves because a better tomorrow is happening today. The piece is a celebration of Overtown's intrinsic values, which are inherent characteristics to its transformation into to a world -class destination. Overtown has no shortage of greatness, from brilliant artists and scholars to its rich history and cultural heritage. The goal is to create a campaign consisting of 4 :30 sec to 1 minute spots that shine a spotlight on Overtown's positive transformation. 1. Generic: People, Heritage and Business 2.
