Headliner Market Gr011p, Inc. Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency 1490 Northwest 3rd Avenue Suite 105 Miami, FL 33136 Dear Sirs: Headliner Market Group Inc's overall mission for the 5th Annual Festival in Overtown, is to promote and celebrate the rich history and culture of the community, through the • re-creation, planning, coordinaanO tion d presentation of the vertown aviusic or Hru Festival. Last year we believe we accomplished a major fete for having the highest overall attendance. For 2015 we will again duplicate and feature national recording acts, more local visual artists' participation, as well as NBA and NFL teams/players We had a fabulous Youth Zone which we plan to expand and promote in an effort tc draw out even more families. Support from the colleges and local museums proved tc be very key and we again plan to have their involvement. 2015 will prove to bring even more shine and attention to the Overtown community. We are requesting funds from the CRA in the amount of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand ($150,000.00) Dollars to support the Overtown Music & Arts Festival which will take place on July 25, 2015. We have increased the budget to increase oui marketing efforts as well as expand the festival accommodations and offerings to the festival goers. We have included a full detailed breakdown of the 2014 hard cost incurred and keep in mind that there are many areas which we feel we can improv€ upon given a larger budget. Everything will remain the same as last year however, WE want to expand the festival zone to include NW 2nd Avenue as well. Every aspect of the Festival has been carefully thought out in an effort to celebrate .JVC111.1 1! Overtown has a rich cultural and music history that should be celebrated and highlighted which is what this years' Festival will strive hard to achieve with the support of the City of Miami and the CRA. 1029 NW Avenue / Miami FL 33136 Phone.•(786)529-4586 Email.©vertoivnMusicArtsFestivalegmail.com Headliner Market Group, Inc. The Green Family Foundation was the Presenting Sponsor of the Youth Zone. Nikki Kancey, Founder of Teens Exercising Extraordinary Success stated that "it was important that an area be created to serve the youngest community residents and festival goers and Headliner Market Group allowed us the opportunity to bring the vision to reality by designating an entire area of the festival to exclusively serve our children". The youth and even parents were definitely engaged and occupied with a full day of activities ranging from Arts & Crafts, fitness, literacy, and dancing. HistoryMiami and The Center for Literacy & Theater created arts & craft zones, while Candy, a local author from Child of This Culture engaged children in reading activities from the book, What Is Hip Hop, coloring time, a graffiti art class, and classes on break dance moves. Families were treated to live performances by Gravity Dance Troupe and break dance crew, Flipside Kings. Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine taught short exercise classes, provided face painting and taught the children how to make vegetable face masks with poster paper. Absolute Fitness hosted fun fitness classes while Fully Involved Miami hosted Rapid CPR demonstrations. RTGroup hosted an enormous obstacle course bounce house for the older youth and one exclusively for toddlers while volunteers from Wells Fargo assisted with the many fitness contests such as sack races, hula hoops, and a special visit from Team USA Double Dutch. Miami Dade Public Library rolled in with their mobile library on wheels where parents and children could read and sign up for a library card. T.E.E.S. provided all youth zone participants with book bags filled with an official festival t-shirt and toiletry items. A local biker group, One Fist Ladyz also provided free book bags filled with school supplies. Finally 103.5 The Beat hosted the Youth Zone stage and provided a board game tent filled with giveaways.
