The event was PACKED with local people coming to savor all the sights, sounds, and TASTES Expressions had to offer. Overtown Miami, in its heyday was called "The Little Harlem of the South" and was the epicenter of entertainment and recreation. Many of the largest names. in show business would perform at hot spots in Overtown or as it was called back then "Colored town", because they were not allowed to perform on Miami Beach. Over the years, Overtown has been tom apart and eventually became the most blighted and overlooked area of Miami. Through hard work and diligence, city officials have managed to begin re -building what was lost to restore order and economic stability back to this Historic Landmark. Expressions is an event that brings hope and promise to the residents of Overtown Miami. Security was tight and professional as they made sure you parked your care safely and correctly. Upon walking up to the venue, complementary red carpet photos were taken. Guest got a chance to sight see the gallery that displays Overtown Miami's rich cultural history. They are then lured to the back patio area of the venue on the grass where art deco seating, tents, and a state of the art Stage equipped with concert lighting! Guests were then serenaded by the soulful sounds of the Deep Fried Funk Band, with Melton Mustafa on sax. As the night ensued, host Rebecca "Butterfly" Vaughns kept the crowd engaged and entertained by holding the vibe together with her grace. Guests were then treated to some of Miami's best poetry talent. To make an already awesome event even greater, guests were treated to fresh fruit, veggies, & chicken and waffles catered by the one and only Jackson Soul Food of Overtown Miami. This event will happen every second Saturday of the month so be sure you don't miss the next one! Of course if you missed this one you know EYEURBANTV has you covered! Stay tuned for the highlights!!
