The award of $60,000 from the SEOPW/CRA will be used to cover the required payment to the contractor for construction costs overruns and ultimately complete this project. Background Completion of selective demolition work revealed extensive, unforeseen existing building structural conditions as well as deteriorated condition of the 2nd and 3rd floor framing, and roof decking/sheathing. See the attached dated 10/12/2012. As a Change Order for the total amount of $164,229.00, D Stephenson Construction performed the work to remedy the condition as reference in Construction Change Order #1 and was inspected for completeness by the architect. In order to complete the work, a portion of funding was made available from the City of Miami Department of Community Development for $90,000 and $11,007.47 from the Miami Foundation. The payment balance owed for performance is $63,221.53 (refer to attachment dated 10/31/2013). The balance of $3,221.53 will be paid by MZDI. This leaves a balance of $60,000, and is the amount MZDI has requested from the SEOPW/CRA to cover the above mentioned cost overruns. Again, the award of $60,000 from the SEOPW/CRA will be used to cover the required payment to the contractor for construction costs overruns and ultimately complete this project for issuance of Certificate of Occupancy.
