The American Black Film Festival (ABFF)
Community Partnership
Program Overview:
The American Black Film Festival's ("ABFF") Community Showcase launched in 2009 as a
partnership between the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency
(CRA) and the American Black Film Festival (ABFF)/Film Life, Inc. The goal of the
partnership is to support and promote the Overtown and Park West community redevelopment
areas as conducive to film and television production. In addition, the Community Showcase
component of the film festival seeks to artistically enlighten and educate youth residing in the
Overtown community on the various disciplines and career opportunities that exist within the
motion picture industry.
The 2013 community partnership is scheduled to take place from Friday, June 21 through
Sunday, June 23, 2013 during the 17th annual ABFF. The initiative will focus on promoting the
Overtown and Park West communities to ABFF attendees interested in investing in the area and
support the local businesses, and to promote and garner support for the new Miami Film Life
Center (MFLC) which will focus on creating business and training opportunities for Miami's
local film industry.
Scope of Services:
1. Film Life will hold a press conference within Overtown, attended by the selected ABFF
ambassador and other named guests to announce the start of the 2013 ABFF Community
Showcase.
2. Film Life will assist the CRA in the coordination of the juried 2013 ABFF Community
Showcase competition inclusive of the preparing of the competition packets, advertising of
the competition, selection of the qualified participants, packaging of an award package
inclusive of passes to ABFF Master Class Workshops for distribution to the selected
winner(s) of the competition, and coordination of the 2013 ABFF/CRA Community
Showcase film screening event scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 11 am
to 4pm
3. Film Life will coordinate filmmakers and executives (10-15 persons) to attend a tour of the
Miami Film Life Center (MFLC) and locations within the City of Miami. The event to be
held on Saturday, June 22 or Sunday, June 23, at MFLC headquarters. The MFLC will be
responsible for all programming activities and will coordinate with the City of Miami's Film
Office to facilitate the transportation, tour guide and presenters.
4. Film Life will coordinate and implement the premier community screening of Robert
Townsend's film Playin' For Love to be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013. The CRA will be
responsible for securing the venue and all technical/audio visual costs associated with the

screening. Film Life will coordinate the attendance of director Robert Townsend at no
additional cost to the CRA.
5. Film Life will provide fifty (50) Movie & Panel Passes providing access to the panel
discussions and film screenings taking place in the City of Miami Beach (Ritz Carlton Miami
Beach and Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road). The pass will be valid for panels and screening
events only held between Thursday, June 20 and Saturday, June 22 from 10:30am to 5:00
pm. The CRA will coordinate the distribution of these passes to community stakeholders.
6. Film Life will provide twelve (12) Sponsor Passes providing. VIP access to all official
festival events, from Wednesday, June 19 to Saturday, June 22" . Passes will be delivered to
CRA offices on Monday, June 17th.
7. Film Life will provide invitation for four (4) guests to attend the Founder's Brunch
tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 21.
8. Film Life will assist the CRA and City of Miami in the coordination of a daily trolley
service (minimum of two vehicles) to run between the Ritz Carlton Hotel, key ABFF venues
and points of interest within the City of Miami on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23,
2013. CRA will be responsible for all expenses associated with the trolleys.
9. Film Life will provide the CRA with an information table in the festival registration area to
distribute information on the SEOPW Community Redevelopment Area and its Shop, Dine
and Explore campaign.
10. Film Life will update the ABFF website (www.abff.com) and ABFF program materials to
include the CRA logo and sponsorship information and to accommodate the CRA's ABFF
Community Showcase scheduled activities.
11 Film Life will update the ClearChannel Outdoor Billboard advertising to include the CRA
logo (subject to media sponsorship by ClearChannel Outdoor).
12. Film Life will assist with public and community relations by drafting and distributing a press
release on the CRA/ABFF scheduled activities to ABFF credentialed press as well as local
Miami print and broadcast outlets. CRA will be responsible for the disseminating this release
to local media outlets.
12. Film Life will implement a multi -phase marketing program which will include the following:
Advertising/Media
• CRA logo on sponsor page of abff corn through June 30, 2013
• Magazine: CRA logo placement in national magazine advertisements (Subject to barter
Agreements related to the 2013 ABFF)
• Program Guide: One full -page color ad in the 2012 digital guide
• E-Newsletters: CRA logo inclusion in monthly newsletters to ABFF.com
Onsite Branding
• CRA logo inclusion on Welcome Banners
• CRA logo inclusion on Event screensavers
• One full page ad in Festival Digital Program
• Opportunity to sample one (1) item in the general Attendee and VIP gift bags

Public Relations and Acknowledgement
■ CRA included in the boilerplate of all official ABFF 2013 press releases. CRA to be
listed in all credits as the "Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment
Agency".
■ CRA will receive post -festival electronic wrap report
■ Verbal acknowledgment prior to the Festival's Opening Night film
CRA COMMITMENTS
■ Program Sponsorship Fee: $50,000. Payable upon execution of the agreement
■ CRA shall provide creative in a timely manner (logo, program ads, etc.) as required by
Film Life to execute marketing benefits.
