RE; Folk Life Fridays in Overtown
Dear Mr. Woods;
Enclosed please find for your review and consideration a Scope of Work and Budget for Folk
Life Fridays 2013. Folk Life Fridays is a monthly open-air market to be held for months
beginning in February 2013 on Overtown's 9th Street Mall. Folk Life Fridays is an economic
development initiative that provides opportunities for local businesses to promote their gods
and services to residents and visitors.
With the development of Miami -Dade Comity's Transit Building, housing approximately 2000
employees, the close proximity of Park Place and Bay View residences, ease of access from
Downtown and the Port of Miami Folk Life Fridays provides a positive destination in the
heart of Overtown for folks to "Shop, Dine and Explore,: within the CRA boundaries.
This monthly event will showcase approximately thirty (30) local vendors, selling a variety of
items, such as arts and crafts, books, Jewelry, clothing and food. As an added bonus we will
have live music or a DJ to play popular music to create a festive atmosphere. We also propose
new ideas for 2013. Also, in an effort to link community connections travel to 9m Street Mall.
We would like to thank you for continued support in partnering with the Overtown community
in helping make it a better place for residents and businesses.
Sincerely,
Jackie Bell
Executive Director
