Exercise of First One
of Agreement with
Inc. for Streetlight
BACKGROUND:
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the exercise of the first
one (1) year renewal option under the agreement with Horsepower Electric, Inc. for maintenance of certain
streetlights, for a total amount not to exceed $25,000 for the year.
In furtherance of redevelopment goals and principles, the CRA maintains a number of public streetlights
throughout the Redevelopment Area. The Board of Commissioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-11-0022, passed
and adopted on April 25, 2011, authorized the execution of a professional services agreement between the CRA
and Horsepower Electric, Inc. to provide maintenance for a number of streetlights for a one (1) year period with
the option of four (4) additional one (1) year periods, at a cost not to exceed $25,000 per year.
On September 1, 2011,.the CRA and Horsepower Electric, Inc. entered into a professional services agreement
to provide maintenance as authorized by the aforementioned resolution. The Agreement also included the
CRA's option of four (4) additional one (1) year periods. This Resolution serves to exercise the first one (1) year
option in an effort to ensure uninterrupted service.
JUSTIFICATION:
The 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevelopment Plan lists "improving the quality of life for residents,"
as a stated redevelopment principle. Said plan also lists "[m]aintenance of public streets and spaces ... in a
consistent manner" as a stated redevelopment goal.
This Resolution carries out these objectives.
