HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRA-R-12-0067 09-24-2012 BackupSEOPW CRA Film Institute (Proposed) Organizational Structure General Film Incentives/Tech Assistance CRA Training Component Memorandum of Understanding Preliminary Terms Objective: The Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") proposes to establish the Miami Film Life Center ("Film Center") —a film industry educational resource and training center —at the Chapman House, a facility site that is under the ownership of the School Board of Miami - Dade County ("School Board"). The Film Center will also include a job training center ("Film Institute") through a joint partnership with University of Miami and South Florida Workforce. The CRA intends to select an operator to program and manage the Film Center. The CRA seeks to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the School Board in support is initiative. 1. School Board to assist Film Center in developing sup; o ementary educational program in support of the TV Production curriculum currently offered<.tB'ooke�r T. Washington Senior High ("Booker T") including funding a full-time position for the tea hing of filmmaking at Booker T. 2. School Board to facilitate student access to 'the Film Center ®roviding students with the opportunity to explore a career in the creat ve industries; and further, t4o.facilitate access of the CRA and its designated operator of the Film � enter to the student body a o'ooker T. 3. School Board to provide dedicated classroom space w,,t Booker T for programing activities. 4. School Board to provide access to the Black Box Theater, Planetarium, Auditorium and TV Production Academy equipment }`S d resources. 5. School Board to dedicate a minimum fifteen (15) parking spaces to the Film Center. 10. School Board to provide access to School sites within its jurisdiction for purposes associated with the Film Center, including film shoots, auditions, film screenings, etc. 11. School Board to assist in providing and assigning School Board staff personnel on projects and program activities associated with the Film Center , including security personnel on a case by case basis. 12. School Board to provide technology and other interior infrastructure upgrades to Frederick Douglass Elementary School, including facilitate installation of a new playground on the school campus.
