Sarnoff and Members of the CRA Board From: Pieter A. Bockweg Executive Director Date: July 20th, 2012 File: 12-00831 Subject: Resolution authorizing the Omni CRA to piggyback on the State of FL contract to purchase office furnishings for Omni CRA office, to be located at the Historic Fire Station #2 References: Enclosures: Supporting Documentation; Legislation BACKGROUND: It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Omni Redevelopment District Community Redevelopment Agency ("Omni CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the Omni CRA to piggyback on the State of Florida Furniture Contract No. 425-001-12-1 to purchase office furnishings for the Omni CRA office, to be located at the historic Fire Station #2, in an amount not to exceed $68,000. JUSTIFICATION: As part of the continued reconstruction and rehabilitation of the historic Fire Station No. 2, the Omni CRA will be relocating its offices into the 2nd floor of the renovated facility. The preparation of the interior to accommodate the new offices requires the purchase of office furnishings, including, but not limited to, cubicles tables, desks, and chairs. The Board of Commissioners, pursuant Resolution No. CRA-R-10-0076, passed and adopted on September 27th, 2010, authorized $3.5 million for the design and reconstruction of the historic Fire Station No. 2. Funding for this work will be used from the $3.5 million allocation. Currently, the Omni CRA is still on target and on budget with the project and is in the process of completing the interior construction of the building. For reference, the City of Miami, pursuant to Resolution 06-0245, allows the various City departments to use the State of Florida Office Furniture Contract. In the past, the Omni CRA Board has approved piggy backing off of other State contracts for one time purchases, such as this one. The Omni CRA is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects within its Redevelopment Area in accordance with its approved Redevelopment Plan. Section 163.356(3)(d), Florida Statute, requires the Omni CRA Board to appropriate to the Omni CRA any amounts deemed necessary for the administrative expenses and overhead of the agency. This Resolution carries out this goal. FUNDING: Funds to be drawn from the Omni Tax Increment Fund,"Construction in Progress," Account Code No. 10040.920101.670000.0000.00000.
