HomeMy WebLinkAboutCRA-R-12-0037City of Miami Legislation CRA Resolution: CRA-R-12-0037 City Hall 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, FL 33133 www.miamigov.com File Number: 12-00609 Final Action Date: 5/29/2012 A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $40,000, FOR THE LAUNCH OF THE SHOP, DINE, AND EXPLORE ("SDE") MARKETING CAMPAIGN TO PROMOTE THE BUSINESSES, CULTURAL FACILITIES, AND RESTAURANTS WITHIN THE REDEVELOPMENT AREA; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO DISBURSE FUNDS, AT HIS DISCRETION, ON A REIMBURSEMENT BASIS OR DIRECTLY TO VENDORS, UPON PRESENTATION OF INVOICES AND SATISFACTORY DOCUMENTATION; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO GENERAL COUNSEL; FUNDS TO BE ALLOCATED FROM SEOPW TAX INCREMENT FUND, "OTHER GRANTS AND AIDS," ACCOUNT CODE NO. 10050.920101.883000.0000.00000. WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects within its Redevelopment Area in accordance with its approved Redevelopment Plan; and WHEREAS, Section 2, Goal 5/Principle 6, at pages 11 and 15, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Plan lists the promotion of "local cultural events, institutions, and businesses," as a stated redevelopment goal; and WHEREAS, Section 2, Goal 5/Principle 14, at pages 11 and 17, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Plan lists "restor[ing] a sense of community and unify[ing] the area culturally", as a stated redevelopment goal; and WHEREAS, SDE is a joint initiative of the CRA, the City of Miami and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau and the launch will take place June 1, 2012, when CRA will hold a press conference at the Ward Rooming House; and WHEREAS, the funding from this resolution will cover general SDE advertising and marketing expenses, including, but not limited to, printing of promotional brochures highlighting places to Shop, places to Dine, and designated historic sites in Overtown; design and printing of coupon booklets featuring Overtown businesses; and printing and installation of street pole banners; and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to authorize the expenditure of funds, in an amount not to exceed $40,000, for the launch of the Shop, Dine, and Explore ("SDE") marketing campaign to promote the businesses, cultural facilities, and restaurants within the redevelopment area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE City of Miami Page 1 of 2 File Id: 12-00609 (Version: 1) Printed On: 8/13/2024 File Number: 12-00609 Enactment Number: CRA-R-12-0037 SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The expenditure of funds, in an amount not to exceed $40,000, for the advertising and marketing expenses, including, but not limited to, printing of promotional brochures highlighting places to Shop, places to Dine, and designated historic sites in Overtown; design and printing of coupon booklets featuring Overtown businesses; and printing and installation of street pole banners, to launch the Shop, Dine, and Explore ("SDE") marketing campaign, to promote the businesses, cultural facilities, and restaurants within the redevelopment area, is hereby authorized. Section 3. The Executive Director is authorized to disburse funds, at his discretion, on a reimbursement basis or directly to vendors, upon presentation of invoices and satisfactory documentation. Section 4. The Executive Director is authorized to execute all documents necessary for said purpose, in a form acceptable to General Counsel. Section 5. Funds to be allocated from SEOPW Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and Aids," Account Code No. 10050.920101.883000.0000.00000. Section 6.
