BACKGROUND
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution allocation funds, in an amount not
to exceed $200,000, for the 2012 Summer Youth Entrepreneur Academy.
The Board of Commisioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-10-00787, passed and adopted on May 6, 2010, a grant
in an amount not to exceed $480,000, authorizing the continuation of the Summer Youth Employment Program
for the Summer of 2010. The program provided job training and placement for individuals between the ages of
15 -24 throughout the Redevelopment Area and the City of Miami.
The Board of Commisioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-11-0027, passed and adopted on May 31, 2011, a grant
in an amount not to exceed $322,317, authorizing the continuation of the Summer Youth Employment Program
for the Summer of 2011. The program provided job training and placement for individuals between the ages of
15 -24 throughout the Redevelopment Area and the City of Miami.
The 2012 will be providing students with the skills, work experience, and certifications that will equip them with
invaluable tools that will benefit them as they pursue higher education or enter the job market. It is
recommended that the Program be continued in order to provide job training and placement for the upcoming
2012 summer season.
JUSTIFICATION:
Section 2, Goal 4/Principle 6, at pages 11 and 15, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevelopment
Plan, lists "[greeting jobs within the Community," and promoting local businesses as stated redevelopment
goals.
This Resolution carries out these goals.

No. 10050.920101.883000.0000.00000.
