References: Enclosures: Legislation BACKGROUND: It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing funding in an amount not to exceed Thirty Five Thousand Dollars ($35,000.00), to Neighbors and Neighbors Association, Inc. ("NANA") for assistance to small businesses within the Redevelopment Area. NANA will make these funds available to small businesses within the CRA Area, to provide technical assistance and business development training. The CRA Board, by Resolution No. CRA-R-10-0021, passed and adopted on April 26, 2010, authorized the issuance of a grant, in an amount not to exceed Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000) to NANA, to provide technical assistance and business development training to small businesses within the Redevelopment Area. The CRA Board, by Resolution No. CRA-R-09-0005, passed and adopted on January 26, 2009, authorized the issuance of a grant, in an amount not to exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000) to NANA, to provide technical assistance and business development training to small businesses within the Redevelopment Area. JUSTIFICATION: Pursuant to Florida Statute Chapter 163.370(2)(n), the CRA may coordinate and direct the provisions of Chapter 163 in order that the objective of remedying slum and blighted areas and preventing the causes thereof may be most effectively achieved. The 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevelopment Plan lists the creation of jobs, and the support and enhancement of existing businesses within the Redeveopment Area, as stated goals. This Resolution carries out these objectives. FUNDING: Funds from SEOPW Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and Aids," Account Code No. 100 50.920101.88 3000.0000.00000.
