Subject: Resolution Authorizing an Agreement with
Edgewater Construction Group, Inc. for the
Fire Station #2 Phase 2B Interior Build -Out
and Parking Lot.

BACKGROUND:
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Omni Redevelopment District Community
Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the execution of an
agreement in substantially the attached form with Edgewater Construction Group, Inc. for the construction of the
interior build -out and parking lot of Fire Station No. 2, located at 1401 N. Miami Avenue, Miami, FL, in an
amount not to exceed $940,500 ($855,000 + a 10% contingency).
JUSTIFICATION:
The CRA issued an Invitation to Bid No. 11-009 for Fire Station No. 2 Phase 2B Interior Rehabilitation and
Parking Lot on December 12th, 2011. Eight (8) bid responses were received and Edgewater Construction Group
Inc. was the most qualified and responsive bidder at a price the CRA deems fair and competitive.
The Board of Commissioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-10-0076, passed and adopted on September 27tn
2010, authorized $3.5 million for the design and reconstruction of the Historic Fire Station No. 2. Funding for
this new phase of the project will be used from the $3.5 million allocation. Currently, we are still on target and
on budget with the project and are in the process of completing phase 1 which is the structural rehabilitation and
stabilization of the building.
The Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") is responsible for carrying out
community redevelopment activities and projects within its Redevelopment Area in accordance with its approved
Redevelopment Plan. At page 11, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevelopment Plan, lists "preserving
historic buildings and community heritage" as a redevelopment goal.
This Resolution carries out this goal.

10040.920101.670000.0000.00000.
