Sarnoff Date: November 21, 2011 File: 11-01111 and Members of the CRA Board From: Pieter A. Bockweg Executive Director Subject: Braman Auto, Inc. grant request for capital improvements directly related to the installation of a 12" water main. References: Enclosures: Legislation BACKGROUND: It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Omni Redevelopment District Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the issuance of a grant, in amount not to exceed One Hundred Fifty Thousand Three Hundred Fifty Eight Dollars and Sixty Cents ($150,358.60), to Braman Auto Inc., to underwrite costs for capital improvements directly related to the installation of a 12" water main needed for the development and construction of a new sales showroom at 1930 NE Second Avenue. The funding request to the CRA represents approximately 6% of the estimated $ 2.46 million project budget and will be used to reimburse the Applicant/Owner for installation of a new '12" water main. This Project site is located in a priority business section of the redevelopment area. JUSTIFICATION: This water main installation supports the infrastructure in the area, not only for Braman Auto, Inc., for any future development projects that occur along Northeast Second Avenue. The CRA, as part of its Redevelopment Plan, has identified water and sewer upgrades in this area, in an effort that these infrastructure upgrades will serve to attract private business investment and development. The Board, pursuant to Resolution No. CRA-R-08-0049, passed and adopted September 3, 2008, authorized and allocated 6.5 million dollars for the design and installation of upgrades to the water and sewer facilities in the Omni redevelopment area. The subject funds will come from these allocated funds. Braman Auto, Inc. will reimburse the CRA for any credits that may be issued by Miami Dade County Water and Sewer Department ("WASD") for the installation and connection of this 12" water main. FUNDING: $150,358.60 from the OMNI Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and Aids," Account Code No. 10040.920101.883000.0000.0000
