Bockweg, Executive Director Omni CRA 49 NW 5 Street, Suite 100 Miami, Florida 33128 Dear Mr. Bockweg, I hope that this letter finds all well with you. As long-term stakeholders in the Omni area of the City of Miami, our company supports the efforts of the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency to rehabilitate and redevelop the former Miami Skills into a film production facility. Despite the best efforts of all involved and the significant improvements that are now taking place, the Omni area continues to be plagued by vandalism, property crime, lack of development and job opportunities, particularly in the areas west of Biscayne Boulevard. One only needs to observe the substantial and positive impact the production of the film "Rock of Ages" has had on the surrounding area to understand the benefits Hollywood type movie production can bring. Providing a building to serve the film industry, especially in the area of the former Miami Skills Center, just might be the catalyst the area needs to encourage others to invest in and develop more of the neighborhood. CROWN MEDIA GROUP, LLC July 25, 2011 Dear City of Miami Commissioners; Crown Media Group, a Miami based Florida Corporation, and its production partners are elated to hear of the Miami CRA's plans to develop a Miami Entertainment Complex. The MEC would create a long overdue revenue stream for both local business and the City. Moreover, it will allow companies like mine to bring clients to, and work within, the city of Miami. Unfortunately, many of the projects we work on are produced in Miami's adjoining cities and counties because of the City's lack of production studio facilities. The creation of the MEC will afford us the ability to offer a more competitive production budget to our clients, while producing revenue for the City and a host of other support related businesses in Miami. The development of the MEC is paramount for the future of the film and television industry in our city. Without it, we simply cannot compete with other cities and the production business will continue to fade from our economic landscape. I respectfully urge you to support and approve funding for the MEC. Sincerely, Dan Moroso CEO — Crown Media Group, LLC Miami — FL Crown Media Group, LLC - Miami, FL - infoa, crownmediagroup.hv - Tel. Digital Media Production Studios 3'VA R Recording Studios Gentlemen: 1 am writing to you in support of the proposed Miami Entertainment Center (MEC) that is under consideration for funding. The City of Miami is the center of all filmmaking in Florida. Its world-wide reputation as a beautiful, exciting international destination filled with glamour and intrigue sets it apart from all other Florida filming locations. Miami has had on and off success as a major film industry destination behind Los Angeles and New York. Indeed, at one time it was the third largest film producing city in America. However, other states and other countries have lessened Miami's impact until it became just another destination for films that wrote the City into their script. Even with that impetus, shows with Miami's name in the title have been shot elsewhere. Why? Because Miami does not have a bricks and mortar motion picture studio with professional sound stages to sustain a viable feature film and TV production industry. This is why Miami needs the MEC. Combine Miami's ambiance with the new State of Florida Film Incentive and a new state-of-the-art movie studio with Hollywood quality sound stages and you will have a winning combination to turn Miami into a true film industry destination. The MEC will attract many other support businesses, more so than any other type of entity, because it pulls from literally dozens of support businesses. Store fronts will open up and down the streets adjacent to the MEC once it is in place. The City of Miami CRA was created to bring business and jobs to blighted areas, particularly those types of businesses that will attract others. The MEC is precisely that kind of business. It is my sincere hope that the City of Miami will approve this worthwhile project to benefit all of the citizeps-ofMiami.
