A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE SOUTHEAST
OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ("CRA")
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO ACCEPT THE TRANSFER OF
TITLE FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI ("CITY") OF THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT 480
N.W. 11TH STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA:: THE BLACK POLICE PRECINCT &
COURTHOUSE MUSEUM; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ALL
DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR SAID PURPOSE, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO
GENERAL COUNSEL.
WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") is
responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects within its Redevelopment
Area in accordance with its approved Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, Section 2, Goal 1, at page 11, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West
Redevelopment Plan lists the "[preservation] of historic buildings and community heritage," as a stated
redevelopment goal; and
WHEREAS, Section 4, at pages 69 through 73, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West
Redevelopment Plan identifies the West Overtown neighborhood, generally bounded by N.W. 11th
Street on the north, N.W. 7th Street on the south, Interstate 95 on the east, and N.W. 7th Avenue on
the west, as a redevelopment focus/project area ("Focus Area")' and
WHEREAS, the Focus Area is intended to serve as a "starting point" for projectswithin the
Redevelopment Area, with redevelopment expenditures and efforts "... [focused] in small areas to
totally transform them . , . ;" and
WHEREAS. the property located at 480 N.W. 11th Street, Miami, Florida ("Black Police
Precinct") is within the Focus Area, and owned by the City of Miami ("City"); and
WHEREAS, Section 4, at pages 89 and 90, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West
Redevelopment Plan identifies the Black Police Precinct as a historical structure of "major importance"
for purposes of continued preservation; and
WHEREAS, to aid the CRA in its redevelopment efforts, the City wishes to transfer title of the
Black Police Precinct to the CRA; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to authorize the Executive Director to accept
the transfer of title from the City of the Black Police Precinct;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:

Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted
by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The Executive Director is authorized to accept the transfer of title from the City of
the property located at 480 Northwest Eleventh Street, Miami, Florida: The Black Police Precinct &
Courthouse Museum.
Section 3. The Executive Director is authorized to execute ail documents necessary for said
purpose, in a form acceptable to General Counsel.
Section 4. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
