Listed below is a description of the programs in the City of Miami Redevelopment Agency CRAs. Overtown Park West CRA contracts Jay Learning Center — Out -of School Program provided after school services for 60 general population children and 5 children were with disabilities ages 5 to 12 years old residing in the Overtown area of Miami. The program offered the participants fun and engaging activities in a wholesome and safe environment including literacy, tutoring support, physical fitness, social skills, nutrition education and field trips. This contract was terminated on April 30, 2010. Location: Jay's Learning Center Gibson Park 401 NW 12th Street Miami, Fl. 33136 Amt: S 13, 992 Overtown Youth Center- The Overtown Youth Center provides an after -school program for 169 general population and 6 children with disabilities and a summer program for 139 general population and 6 children with disabilities ages 8 to 18 years (2nd — 12th grade) that reside in Overtown. Location : Overtown Youth Center 450 NW 14th Street Miami, FI. 33136 Amt: $ 198, 509 Omni CRA Contracts: SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION Human Service Coalition - Pathways to Civic Engagement (PCE) engaged parents, guardians and community members in leadership development as well as community and civic involvement to improve quality of life for at -risk children and families in targeted neighborhoods and countywide. Participants shall increase knowledge, skills and civic participation. Collaborators include University of Miami, neighborhood organizations, countywide institutions and national civic engagement organizations. Location: Human Service Coalition Temple Israel 137 NE 19th Street Miami, FI. 33132 Amt $ 217,049 Aspira of South Florida - The ASPIRA After School Program serves children during after school and summer. Eleven to fifteen year -old students from Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School are encouraged to use their creativity emphasizing pro -social bonding, leadership, communication, and resisting negative peer pressure. Sports and exercise encourage healthy children and promote teamwork while music, chess, and dance bring out the talents in our children. All this, in addition to reading about multicultural - focused themes, will inspire in children an interest for academic pursuit. Our primary goals are to improve reading and mathematics skills, increase physical fitness, and encourage family participation.
