BACKGROUND:
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the advance of
additional funds, in an amount not to exceed $13,161.78, for a total amount not to exceed $59,663.78, to the
City of Miami, to offset additional costs incurred in the demolition and removal of the buildings located at 163
N.W. 11th Street, 1020 N.W. 2nd Avenue, and 1024 N.W. 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida, pending the City's
receipt of demolition lien proceeds.
These three properties were deemed unsafe structures and demolished as a result. The City of Miami's
Building Department provided an original estimate from an approved vendor for a total project cost of $46,502.
The Department sought CRA assistance due to the it's then existing financial constraints.
The Board of Commissioners, by Resolution No. CRA-R-10-0003, passed and adopted on February 11, 2010,
authorized the advance of funds, in an amount not to exceed $46,502. for the demolition and removal of said
properties, pending the City's receipt of demolition lien proceeds.
The Building Department states it incurred expenses in excess of the ❑riginal estimate, and now seeks CRA
support to cover these additional expenses.
