Subject: Grant to City of Miami for Replacement of
Wind -Damaged Playground Shade Structures
at Margaret Pace Park.

It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Omni Redevelopment District Community
Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the issuance of a grant,
in an amount not to exceed $60,000, to the City of Miami, for the replacement of wind -damaged playground
shade structures at the Margaret Pace Park, located at 1775 N. Bayshore Drive, Miami, Florida.
These playground shade structures sustained extensive wind damage in the Fall of 2005 as a result of
Hurricane Wilma. The City's Parks and Recreation ā¯‘epartment has requested financial assistance for the
installation of new, stronger, hurricane -resistant playground shades to replace the current wind -damaged shade
structures.
JUSTIFICATION:
Section 4.4., D., at page 42, of the 2009 Omni Redevelopment Plan, lists "[i]mprovements to the public realm,"
and the "enhance[ment of] the area's visual attractiveness to businesses and residents- as stated
redevelopment objectives.
This Resolution carries out these objectives.
FUNDING: $60,000 from Omni Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and Aids," Account Code No.
10040.9J 20101.88 3000.00 00.00000.
