Subject: Resolution Authorizing a Grant to The Pepper
Shaker Company, Inc., for Youth Summer
Employment Program.

BACKGROUND:
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the issuance of a grant,
in an amount not to exceed $50,000, to The Pepper Shaker Company, Inc., for its Cine Lab Young Filmmaker's
Workshop ("Workshop") to be held within the Redevelopment Area.
The Workshop will be held from July 12, 2010 through August 7, 2010, and will provide up to 25 individuals,
aged 15 to 18, training and development courses in filmmaking, computer, media, and technology skills. During
the Workshop, participants will produce a short film, which will be screened by the community upon completion
of the Workshop.
JUSTIFICATION:
Section 2, Goal 4/Principle 6, at pages 11 and 15, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West Redevelopment
Plan, lists "[c]reating jobs within the Community," and promoting local businesses as stated redevelopment
goals.
This Resolution carries out these goals.
FUNDING: $50,000 from SEOPW Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and Aids," Account Code No.
10050.920101.883000.0000.00000.
