CI N E LAB: Mission Statement
Our mission is to expose students to the exciting world of
filmmaking and to amazing and diverse careers in film,
television, and video production. We strive to excite the
imagination of young filmmakers, expand their possibilities,
and motivate them to succeed. By providing them with an
appreciation and understanding for the Art and Business of
Film -Making, Cine Lab will inspire them to pursue careers
and goals that take advantage of all the resources that their
surrounding community has to offer.

CI N E LAB: Summer Session Introduction
Digital filmmaking technology has made the medium
increasingly accessible to everyone of all ages and
demographics. Today, thanks to the presence of the Internet
and affordable hardware, we are seeing many people
utilizing and inventing new and improved methods and
resources to tell their stories. Cine Lab is designed to provide
each of its students with an introduction and understanding
of filmmaking as well as roles and careers in video and film
production.

CINE LAB: Summer Session Introduction
In the month long summer session, each student will have
the opportunity to participate in the creation of a short film.
The basic skills to be taught will be: idea exploration, story
development, research, writing, camera techniques, sound
recording, casting, producing, directing, and editing. At the
conclusion of the four -week course, each student will have
played an important role in creating a short fiilm, receive a
copy of their film to take home, and their work will be
screened in the community.

CINE LAB: Summer Session Introduction
The Cine Lab summer session seeks to impart both content
specific skills in the fields related to film and video
production, as well as critical workplace skills developed
through the coursework and activities. Critical workplace
skills including communication, teamwork, problem solving,
critical thinking and decision -making will empower the Cine
Lab students to be our future leaders and to excel in the
business of cinema and beyond.

CI N E LAB: Target Population
Structured as a teenage based initiative, our target
population is teens in grades 10 through 12 (15 yrs to 18 yrs)
who are enrolled in school (as of the last school -term). The
intensive project based, hands on and interdisciplinary Cine
Lab program will also develop participant's literacy,
communication and interpersonal skills, along with
significantly developing their computer, media, and
technology skills.

CINE LAB: Program Schedule
PROGRAM: CINE LAB: YOUNG FILMMAKER'S WORKSHOP SUMMER MONTH SESSIONS
GROUP: EACH GROUP WILL CONSIST OF TEN (10) TO FIFTEEN (15) STUDENTS. THERE WILL BE
ONE (1) ADULT FACILITATOR PER GROUP. A CENTER OR ORGANIZATION WILL BE ABLE
TO HOST UP TO EIGHT (8) GROUPS PER MONTH FOR A MAXIMUM OF ONE HUNDRED
(100) STUDENTS PER MONTH.

6p)( SAT 11-3)*
*By offering both am/pm sessions, Cine Lab allows participants the ability to engage in
other activities during the summer, including employment.

CI N E LAB: Resources
Each location will be required to have the following resources to operate a
successful program
• Two (2) large classrooms, with chalk board and chairs and desks to
accommodate up to ten to fifteen (10-15) participants for am/pm
classes and can be available on Saturdays for four (4) hours. A
auditorium or larger room will be needed for Saturday sessions and
orientation.
• A secured storage place for resource materials and group supplies.
(optional)
• Selected community center staff will be required for all am/pm
classes and any off site assistance to facilitate programming as
standard with community based and/or agency sponsored youth
development activities (optional).

CINE LAB: Staffing
Cine Lab is designed with the following instructional staff for each group:
Program Producer: The PepperShaker Company Inc. is a production and special events
company. The company is responsible for the overall operation and management of Cine Lab.
They have developed and implemented the structure for Cine lab as it pertains to: budgeting,
staffing, scheduling, production and programming elements for Cine Lab. In addition, The
PepperShaker Company Inc. will negotiate all technical, production and onsite services
contracts for Cine Lab. The role of the company is to act as program producer and to provide
all the necessary elements to ensure a successful program including:
• Act as project lead
• Provide direction to team members and advisors
• Provide all resource materials
• Provide all content for program
• Program all programming and instructional elements to program
• Hire all team members
• Act as liaison with cooperating agency

CINE LAB: Staffing
Educational Consultant: The educational consultant will act as an independent agent to
assess, design and implement curriculum and educational components. They will do the
following:
• Serve as an independent advisor to program
• Consult on curriculum and educational components
• Provide educational and curriculum insight and experience
Programmer: The programmer will be production professional with an expertise in a chosen
field that is course related. They will speak to the participants and demonstrate when
necessary their skills, education and job training needed for chosen field. They will provide
the following:
• Provide expert /professional tutorial to participants
• Demonstrate technical and non technical expertise in chosen field

Facilitator: The facilitator serves as each group leader and during production as executive
producer. Their role is to guide the participants thru the session, offering advice and
structure. There duties will include:
• Overall group leader
• Deliverable of all resource materials
• Provide target goals for each participant
• Advise on participant task list
• Act as executive producer during filming. Help organize each group production roles
and schedules
• Perform other duties as assigned by The PepperShaker Company, Inc.

Tech Group: The technical group will consist of a DP (Director of Photography), Lighting and
Grip Person, Sound Person and Editor. They will be responsible for:
• Teaching the participants how to utilize the equipment
• Provide direction during course and shooting
• Provide professional expertise
• Perform other duties as assigned by The PepperShaker Company, Inc.
