A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY
REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF A GRANT, IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $14,300, TO UNDERWRITE COSTS
ASSOCIATED WITH THE "STOP THE VIOLENCE 2010" INITIATIVE ORGANIZED
BY THE OVERTOWN COMMUNITY OVERSIGHT BOARD; AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, AT HIS DISCRETION, TO DISBURSE THE GRANT ON A
REIMBURSEMENT BASIS OR DIRECTLY TO VENDORS, UPON PRESENTATION
OF INVOICES AND SATISFACTORY DOCUMENTATION; AUTHORIZING THE
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR
SAID PURPOSE; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM SEOPW TAX INCREMENT FUND,
"OTHER GRANTS AND AIDS," ACCOUNT CODE NO.
10050.920101.883000.0000.00000.
WHEREAS, the Southeast Overtown/ Park West Community Redevelopment Agency ("CRA")
is responsible for carrying out community redevelopment activities and projects within the
Redevelopment Area in accordance with its approved Redevelopment Plan; and
WHEREAS, Principle 14, at page 17, of the 2009 Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Plan lists "[r]estor[ing] a sense of community and unify[ing] the area culturally;" as a
stated redevelopment principle; and
WHEREAS, violence against young people is a growing concern within the Overtown
community; and
WHEREAS, the Overtown Community Oversight Board ("OCOB") wishes to address this issue
by organizing a day of events that focus on crime awareness and prevention; and
WHEREAS, OCOB has submitted a proposal requesting assistance with "Stop the Violence
2010" events held within the Redevelopment Area; and
WHEREAS, "Stop the Violence 2010" activities will include a 3 mile race, a "tree of life"
presentation honoring the lives lost to violence, a teen maze, and an open forum discussion regarding
the community's concerns; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners wishes to authorize a grant to underwrite costs
associated with the "Stop the Violence 2010" Initiative organized by OCOB;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
SOUTHEAST OVERTOWN/PARK WEST COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted

by reference and incorporated herein as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The issuance of a grant, in an amount not to exceed $14,300, to underwrite costs
associated with the "Stop the Violence 2010" Initiative organized by the Overtown Community
Oversight Board, is authorized.
Section 3. The Executive Director is authorized, at his discretion, to disburse the grant on a
reimbursement basis or directly to vendors, upon presentation of invoices and satisfactory
documentation.
Section 4. The Executive Director is authorized to execute all documents necessary for said
purpose.
Section 5. Funds are to be allocated from SEOPW Tax Increment Fund, "Other Grants and
Aids," Account Code No. 10050.920101.883000.0000.00000.
Section 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption.
