BACKGROUND:
It is recommended that the Board of Commissioners of the Southeast Overtown/Park West Community
Redevelopment Agency ("CRA") approve and adopt the attached Resolution authorizing a grant, in an amount
not to exceed $100,000, to Roots in the City, Inc., for landscape training and beautification at various locations
throughout the Redevelopment Area.
Previous CRA grants have been used to beautify various locations throughout the Redevelopment Area
(including Northwest 3rd Street), provide jobs for residents within the Redevelopment Area, provide signage,
and promote awareness of historic Overtown by bringing students, organizations, and the public to participate in
a community garden. Roots in the City, Inc. has requested additional funding to continue the landscape training
and beautification program.
This Resolution will partially fund the Program's payroll for sixteen (16) trainees, one trainer, and one
